Whew…2007! We made it yeah! Every New Year brings about the opportunity to start again. I guess if you are one of those half empty folks...you might be saying “Arghhhh…I have to start again.” I look at the New Year as “Yeah, I get to start again.”
The New Year has always been a time of reflection and I make a list of what I did right in the previous year and what I still need to work on…leading us to yes…New Year’s Resolutions. At the beginning of every year I re-read the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. If you haven’t read the book, I highly recommend it. It was the book that helped give me the courage to enter the animation industry 10 years ago. One of the main points of the book is that “what one can conceive and believe, one can achieve.”
In my classes, I suggest there are 3 Steps for Success: 1) See It 2) Believe It and 3) Do It. In my personal experience and in the observation of others it is Step 3 that seems to be the most difficult for folks…back to New Year’s Resolutions for 2007.
I am working on one of my first New Year’s Resolutions right now. Yep, I wrote one Letter from the President last year….#1 on the “Need to Work on List”…ok maybe not #1 but at the top of the list. I figure I am starting out the year doing at least as good as I did last year. When I write my next one, I can say I doubled my productivity from the previous year. It really is how you look at things.
2007 is going to be a great year! Come on…it has a lucky #7 right in the year. As part of the executive committee our New Year’s Resolutions is to make this year the best ever. Last year was an amazing year, and as an organization reached many of our goals. This year is going to be even more amazing and our focus is going to be on YOU.
We have a list of suggestions and ideas that we got from YOU last year. We are going though the list and are going to make some of those ideas come to life this year! We are here for YOU! So in order to give YOU what you want; we need YOU!
The GUILD is your organization! Get involved. Come to the meetings, write an article, do a tutorial, take a class. See yourself breaking new ground and reaching goals. Believe that this is your break out year, the year that you stick with it and find the time to pursue your passion. Hit the ground running and follow Nike’s advice and just DO IT!
