Water Drops Tutorial

This Photoshop tutorial is designed to show you how to make a water style that you can use for multiple projects and edit to fit your needs. The image I used was 800 X 600 pixels and 300 dpi.  However for this tutorial we will use the web-sized Kola image.

1. Find the picture you would like to add water drops to.

2. Create a new layer and with the brush set at a hard edge fill the picture with a variety of dots.

3. Go to Filter > Distort > Wave with the following settings:

Your result should look like this.

4. Double click the layer to enter the Layer Styles window. And set the mode to Screen. Turn on Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Inner Glow and Bevel and Emboss by turn the little check marks on.

9. Hit ok and you should have an image that resembles the one below. (NOTE: Using images of different sizes and dpi may require that you adjust the settings in each of the above.)

10. You can then grab the brush and with it selected for the color black you can adjust the drops to get the desired look.

This is a chance for you to play with styles and see what each of the settings do. I encourage you to experiment with other images and settings. Have fun.
