Student Profile: Lauren Davis PDF Print E-mail

When I was asked to be the "Featured Student" for the Guild website, I was quite excited! I think that profiles should have your own flair to it, so I am going to be very casual about it if you don’t mind. I am currently attending Texas A&M Commerce to get my degree in New Media, computer graphic arts, and I have no idea what I am going to do with it. I want to do something with games, namely modeling characters, and as soon as I can get my crummy little paws on Maya or Max that’s probably what I will work on. Till then I love my Photoshop, and I am very rarely seen with out my sketch book either drawing some random creature or a pixy getting eaten by some goblin-looking dog. If I could get paid to play games I would so do that... heh... any way, below are some of the images I have created thus far, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Sajanii475.jpg

Sajanii is one of my first digital paintings in CS2 and he was done with a mouse. He is one of my favorite creatures that live in the void between my ears, so he had to be first in my profile.

NoilFight2.jpg

This is one of the first images that I did when I got my wacom tablet. The two creatures are from my high school years when it was fashionable to create your own pokemon. I decided to re-vamp them and have them fighting over a Dika.

 blackheadedgobicolormed

I really don't have much to say about this one, or than its a product of being bored at work and wanting to draw somthing aquadic. This one does not have a name, it just has the species name of Black-Headed Gobi, and it's a land dwelling creature in the middle of evolution where its body is adapting to life in the sea.

HorseNightcloseup475.jpg

This image is a detail close up of "Horse Night: Winter" that I did for my mom for mothers day. If you are interested in seeing the whole thing, below is a URL to my online gallery that has the full sized image.

Shin475.jpg

Shin is a race of creatures that I am currently writing about. There are four types of Shin, desert, forest, ice and water, with this particular individual is an adult male Desert Shin.

Ispen475.jpg
Ispen is named after a upside-down castle in my favorite game, Final Fantasy 9. He is just an random creature that lives in my head that one of these days I want to put into Maya.

zaver475.jpg

I love to draw headstudys, and this is the only one I have colored at this point.

Indian4Small475.jpg

Now for the more traditional stuff, this is a frame from the "Indian Legends" storyboard that I did for Live Action Productions.

BabyThilia475.jpg
Uhmm..... this is, one of those drawings that I did when I was high on red Fanta at work. Never let me drink red Fanta and give me a pencil and paper, cause weird things happen.

Bomyea900475.jpg

Haha, this is Bomeya, he is a product of playing too many video games. The "spirits" are little cubes with wings, attached to each other through ribbons that protect Bomeya from all status effects and will cast protect, haste, and shell on him when his HP is low (they are a summon and cost 20 MP). If you play Final Fantasy you know what I am talking about!

eden475.jpg

Eden is also a product of playing to many video games, he is the in the same class as Bomeya, but he is using one of his skills that allow himself to merge and control the earth and trees around him, he is mainly an elemental.

Now for my Maya, stuff. I do have access to Maya when I am at school, and I did this as my first Maya modeling/lighting project for class. It didn’t turn out too shabby for a first try. I really enjoyed it a lot.

The_Spoon_Monster_by_yelloc.jpg
How do I explain this? Out project was to create something out of stuff you would find in a kitchen. So I did a "spoon monster" made out of spoons, butter knives, salt and pepper shakers, and forks

Well, that’s just a few of the things i have done in the past year. I have a lot more drawings and paintings in my online gallery, and if you are interested in seeing the wild and some times weird things that come out of my head you can go see it at: http://www.yellochevy02.deviantart.com/ and click on the gallery link. It was fun, and i hope that you enjoyed looking at some of my art. Toodles!
