Steve Gonopolsky has a bachelor’s degree from UTD in Arts and Computers, and calls himself a digital artist. He uses digital media to create art - anything from 2D sketches done on the computer, to full 3D character models. Steve gathers inspiration from many sources; traditional art, games, comics, mangas, movies, real life, and anything that can help him grow as an artist.
Using software like Painter, Photoshop, and Maya, Steve is able to create works of art faster and easier than traditional media, with much less mess. Of all the software available to him, Steve uses Painter the most by far. Painter lets him create simply and quickly, letting his hands draw what he see in his mind; from concept sketching, to creating finished works of art. Photoshop is used for more touchup, and editing of images that may come from 2D or 3D. Maya is Steve’s 3D software of choice. From creating indoor environments, to organic models or character creation, Maya helps him transform his ideas into fully rendered 3D works of art.
Seeing other artists’ work inspires Steve to create characters and worlds that are new, beautiful, and unique, showing things from a different perspective.
