Dorit Rabinovitch is a classically trained artist who used to work with traditional materials; paints, brushes, and canvas.  She was introduced to Corel Painter and she never looked back.  Though her work is digital, it has the look and feel of canvas.

Dorit describes her work:

I never felt completely comfortable with traditional tools. Pencil, rapidograph, pastels, watercolor, acrylics and oils - I mastered therm, but at a price. Especially the oils! I went through brushes, tubes, thinners, thickeners, cleaners, canvas etc. at a breakneck pace. Even though the paints were water-based, their fumes still had enough of a kick to  raise an occasional coughing spell (former smoker's hack). My hands were constantly grimy. The tools of my trade made me ill and ill at ease!

dorit.jpgI started noticing that more and more of my colleagues were turning to digital illustration. I did too. My first efforts were fumbling. I groped my way through my first practice piece, forgot to save it and lost it to the black hole of cyberspace. Still, digital painting held so much adventure, sense of accomplishment - and downright pleasure for me. What matter if I've unwittingly zapped a few critical unbacked files to uncharted virtual realms? I've lost beloved originals to an unscrupulous art director or two.

All of my work these days is digital. The brushes and paints sit idle and cobwebbed for years. I look at my evolving cyber works with ever fresh delight and wonder. I hope my audience does too.

Here are some examples of Dorit's artwork including detail closeups, storyboards, and characters in action.
