Wild Wild West of Art & Technology Speakers

Kim Bauer is a Flash Designer at the TM ad agency. She has eleven years of Multimedia experience including design, development, production. Development credits include GTE, American Airlines, Nationwide, Discover, Nortel, Avon, Herbalife, Blockbuster, Bell Atlantic, Cox and Qwest. She has had interactive and design work shown at the Silver Quill and Siggraph. She is also an adjunct professor at Collin County Community College. She has taught courses in Flash, and web design.

Ricardo Villa began his career in 1994 in post production software and equipment sales. His career then shifted into Anime in 1999 when he joined ADV Films in Houston, Texas as an Account Manager and Field Marketing Coordinator. In late 2001, Urban Vision called upon Ricardo to offer assistance during their Vampire Hunter D "Bloodlust" campaign. This experience led to further opportunities in Anime, and in 2002, he was recruited by FUNimation Productions in Fort Worth, Texas to serve as the Sales Manager.

At FUNimation, Mr. Villa demonstrated a remarkable ability to forge alliances with both retailers and manufacturers alike. He was responsible for the launch of the Dragon Ball GT, Yu-Gi-Oh and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Home Video franchises as well as the expansion of the Dragon Ball Z franchise into non-traditional retail outlets. Ricardo's relationship-building ability was pivotal to the successes of these global brands. In 2006, Ricardo’s attention was shifted when he was called upon to lend his experience to the newly created Illumitoon Entertainment. Serving as the Director of Licensing, he was able to secure two television contracts and further the Illumitoon brand in the market place.

During his career, he has sold over 25 million home videos into retail outlets worldwide.

Mr. Villa has had the unique experience of having worked on some of the most recognizable brands of the last two decades - The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, Dragon Ball Z, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Along with his Film background, Ricardo has also served with Virgin Records and as a concert promotions manager for Level 9 Productions where he promoted shows for Matchbox 20, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, U2 & many others.

Tony Hobdy has managed the creation, production, and marketing for more than 300 projects with corporate clients such as IBM, Coca-Cola, HP, and SWA. His strength is not only the knowledge of how to manage a production, but the ability to do the work which allows him to have a true understanding of status as well as be able to speak in business terms to creative and vice versa. Because of this it is Hobdy streamlines all productions and property development while keeping the highest level of style and creativity.

Tony started his career in the entertainment industry as lead game-play technician and supervisor for Sega of America in 1999 whose main responsibility was to play all Sega console games and write the walk throughs of each game for strategy guides. Soon after was promoted to supervising technician and manager over the Sega Dreamcast Console and SegaNet, the first online internet connection for multiplayer games on a console, launches. SegaNet’s initial launch had more than 100,000 sign ups in 2 weeks being run by 150 employees all hired by Mr. Hobdy.

After leaving Sega when Sega transitioned away from the console market, Tony joined D7 Studios as an Executive Producer, Creative Producer, and Director of Marketing. His roles included project management, production planning, technical coordination, production supervisor, negotiation, research, sound engineering, DTS mastering, video compression, casting, DVD authoring / mastering, marketing strategy, and operations.

In the 4 years with D7, Tony produced creative projects for anything from high-end interactives/websites to Film/TV projects/Games while helping to secure funding for projects and managing all aspects of development and/or production. These projects included D7Peacemaker™: Stage 1, Revelation, and national commercial projects such as the Coca-Cola/NASCAR “Fantastic Four” animated commercial, Southwest Airlines 20 minute animation for SWA history video, 10 Dallas Mavericks in-arena animations, Disney/Motorola interactive game kiosks for Epicot Center Walt Disney World, IBM 18-minute Information on Demand campaign, HP Crossfire/Executive Printing/Consumer UI projects, TetraPak Case Study breakdowns, AMD Dual Core Technology Marketing Presentations, and Austin Film Festival website.

In 2006, Tony joined frog design and worked with the Account Director for HP to run frog’s 9 million dollar HP account. While with frog, Tony managed more than 15 projects which resulted in the expansion of the HP account for frog and growth of the company.

After a year with frog, Hobdy became an independent producer and has created, managed, and completed more than 30 projects including an online flash game, complete marketing and branding package for the anime company Illumitoon, and the breakdown of work and projects for the re-branding of Cisco.

A.J. Wood is the president of Media Cats, Inc. an Adobe Training Center based in Dallas, TX. Considered by many to be the "go-to expert" A.J. has 17+ years experience with computers, networks, & digital media. Consulting onsite or through training in a classroom, he has a natural ability to empower business personnel with digital ideas and implementations. His ability to communicate ideas & solutions is exceeded only by his passion for teaching.

A creative generalist, A.J. clients include JCPenney, The Container Store, Sally Beauty Company, Felcor Lodging & Trust, CompUSA, Tuesday Morning, HNTB & Carter-Burgess. He has appeared as a guest speaker for Westwood College, University of Texas Arlington, Collin Creek Community College, and leads the Dallas chapters for Adobe's Acrobat & InDesign user groups.

If there's such a thing as spare time then A.J. ensures those precious moments are spent with his wife Michelle and daughter Sydney. The blessing of a baby girl has provided untapped inspiration for 2008, and Michelle's unwavering support has been the foundation for A.J.'s success.

J. Schuh is the president of Toons-N-Design and an award winning animator, cartoonist, designer, illustrator and producer. J’s past clients include American Heart Association, American Standard, AVON , Cingular, Circle R Media, FedEx Kinko’s, JCP enny’s, Mary Kay Inc, RadioShack, Sherwin Williams, Shore Deary, Toyota , and Uniden.

J. is one of the founders of A Bunch of Short Guys and the GUILD. He is a member of many local and national professional organizations including DFW Adobe User Group, Dallas Producers Association, Dallas Society of Visual Communicators, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Texas Motion Picture Alliance and Women in Film.

He is also an adjunct professor at Collin County Community College and Texas A&M Commerce downtown Dallas . He has taught Animation, Art Direction, Multimedia and Storyboard classes using Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Flash.
